Habitat
Forest canopy, forest edges, plantations. From sea-level - 800 m.

Range (Guide)
Belize, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama.

Atlantic slope of eastern Mexico from San Luis Potosí­ south to Quintana Roo, and Caribbean slope from Belize south to central Panama (Colón).
 
Population
Estimated population is 50,000 - 499,999 (2010).

Voice
A loud 'cack' and 'crrrk' calls. Display song of male consists of bubbling notes and loud gurgles 'tic-tic-glik-glak-gluuuuuuu'.

Nest
A hanging structure composed of lant fibers and vines, high in a tree. In colonies, with from 30 to 170 or more nests.

Eggs (Guide)
2; white or buff with dark spots. Incubation: about 15 days.

Young
Fledge in about 30 days.

Subspecies
No subspecies.

Sometimes placed in genus Gymnostinops. Forms a species group with Black Oropendola (Psarocolius guatimozinus) and Baudo Oropendola (Psarocolius cassini), and all possibly conspecific. Para Oropendola (Psarocolius bifasciatus) and Amazonian Oropendola (Psarocolius yuracares) sometimes considered part of same group.
