Estimated population is 50,000 - 99,999 (2010) and decreasing.
Status EN
Possibly declining due to predation by rats and possibly crabs (Coenobita spp).

Food
Predominantly cephalopods, but also fish and crustaceans.
Subspecies
Pterodroma arminjoniana (Sibley and Monroe 1990, 1993) has been split into Trindade Petrel (Pterodroma arminjoniana), Herald Petrel (Pterodroma heraldica) and Henderson Petrel (Pterodroma atrata) following Brooke (2004).
No subspecies.
