Nest
In a hole of a tree, usually very high up.
Eggs (Guide)
3 - 5; white; rounded; about 20 x 17 mm. Incubation: about 22 days; by female.
Young
Leave the nest in about 5 - 6 weeks and within a further two or three weeks are independent of their parents.
Subspecies
Forms a parapatric species pair with Purple-crowned Lorikeet (Glossopsitta porphyrocephala).
No subspecies.
Similar Species
Musk Lorikeet (Glossopsitta concinna), which is larger and has red cheek, Purple-crowned Lorikeet (Glossopsitta porphyrocephala), which has red underwings and less red on face, Double-eyed Fig-parrot (Cyclopsitta diophthalma), which has a robust, pale grey, bill and blue in the wings.
