Habitat
Subtropical and tropical montane moist forest. From sea-level - 2,000 m.

Range (Guide)
Cuba (B) (NB).

Population
Estimated population is unknown (2010) and decreasing.

Status NT
Habitat destruction and degradation through conversion to cultivation and pasture is the main threat.

Subspecies
The following 2 subspecies are recognised:

  • elisabeth (Lembeye, 1850)   -  Western and eastern Cuba.
  • retrusus Bangs & Zappey, 1905   -  I of Pines.
