Habitat
Subtropical and tropical montane moist forest. From sea-level - 2,500 m.

Anguilla, Antigua And Barbuda, Aruba, Barbados, Cayman Islands, Cuba, Dominica, Dominican Republic, Grenada, Guadeloupe, Haiti, Martinique, Montserrat, Netherlands Antilles, Puerto Rico, St Kitts And Nevis, St Lucia, St Vincent and The Grenadines, USA, Venezuela, Virgin Islands (British) (B) (NB), Virgin Islands (U.S.) (B) (NB).

Vagrant to Jamaica.

Greater Antilles (except Jamaica) and Lesser Antilles; also Curaçao and Bonaire, and Los Testigos (off north-eastern Venezuela).

Subspecies
Closely related to White-crowned Pigeon (Patagioenas leucocephala), the songs of the two species are spectrographically similar. They overlap in parts of their ranges but tend to occupy different habitats. In Jamaica, this species is replaced by Ring-tailed Pigeon (Patagioenas caribaea).

No subspecies.
