Subspecies
Subspecies chiriquensis has sometimes been treated as separate species, but appears not to differ vocally.

The following 2 subspecies are recognised:

argentifrons Ridgway, 1891 - Costa Rica and western Panama (Volc�n de Chiriqu��).
chiriquensis Griscom, 1924 - Western Panam� in eastern Chiriqu�� and eastern Veraguas.
