Habitat
Subtropical and tropical dry and moist lowland forest, dry savanna. From sea-level - 350 m, occasionally up to 1,100 m.

Range (Guide)

Brazil, Colombia, Venezuela.

South-western Venezuela (southern Amazonas), extreme eastern Colombia (Guain��a, Vaup�s) and north-western Brazil (upper R Negro region east to north-central Roraima and south to Ja�).

Population
Estimated population is unknown (2010).

Subspecies
Forms a superspecies with Sclater's Antwren (Myrmotherula sclateri). Genetic and morphological analyses indicate that both are part of a monophyletic group that also includes Pygmy Antwren (Myrmotherula brachyura), Moustached Antwren (Myrmotherula ignota), Streaked Antwren (Myrmotherula surinamensis), Amazonian Streaked Antwren (Myrmotherula multostriata), Pacific Antwren (Myrmotherula pacifica), Cherrie's Antwren (Myrmotherula cherriei), Klages's Antwren (Myrmotherula klagesi) and Stripe-chested Antwren (Myrmotherula longicauda), (the "streaked antwren assemblage").

No subspecies.
