(Gmelin, 1789)

Range (Guide)
Argentina, Canada (P), Chile, Costa Rica, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Panama, Peru, USA (B).

Vagrant to Falkland Islands (Malvinas).

Central and southern Alaska and central Yukon. Winters on Pacific coast of America, from Alexander Archipelago (south-eastern Alaska) south to Straits of Magellan.
 
Population
Estimated population is 70,000 (2010).
