Subspecies
Subspecies olivacea includes proposed subspecies typhoeca. Two specimens from extreme south-eastern Peru are as large as albicollis but show plumage characters of olivacea.
The following 3 subspecies are recognised:
olivacea (Vieillot, 1819) - Colombia, Venezuela and Trinidad to the Guianas and extreme northern Brazil.
albicollis (Vieillot, 1819) - Eastern and southern Brazil, northern and eastern Bolivia, Paraguay and extreme northern Argentina; probably this race in south-eastern Peru.
typhoeca Peters, JL, 1932 - Northern Colombia to Venezuela, the Guianas and Suriname; Trinidad.
