Habitat
Subtropical and tropical moist montane forest. From 1,100 - 2,100 m.
Argentina, Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Venezuela.

Estimated population is unknown (2010).

Subspecies
The following 3 subspecies are recognised:
- lyra (Bonaparte, 1850) - Western Venezuela, western Colombia and central Ecuador.
- peruana (von Berlepsch & Stolzmann, 1906) - Central and eastern Peru and western and central Bolivia.
- argentina Olrog, 1975 - Northern Argentina and possibly southern Bolivia.
