Habitat
Subtropical and tropical lowland moist forest. From sea-level - 1,500 m.
Colombia (B), Panama (B).
Extreme south-eastern Panama, north-western Colombia.
 
Population
Estimated population is 2,500 - 9,999 (2010) and decreasing.
Status VU
Habitat destruction and degradation through logging, road construction, human settlement ia the main threat.

Subspecies
Possibly conspecific with Slaty-breasted Tinamou (Crypturellus boucardi ).
No subspecies.
Similar Species
Little Tinamou (Crypturellus soui ) which is smaller with greyish legs, Berlepsch's Tinamou (Crypturellus berlepschi ) which is larger and blackish.
