Subspecies
May form a superspecies with Burmese Yuhina (Yuhina humilis), and until recently considered conspecific.
The following 6 subspecies are recognised:
albicollis (Ticehurst & Whistler, 1924) - Northern India (Himachal Pradesh) east to western Nepal.
flavicollis Hodgson, 1836 - Central Nepal east to north-eastern India (Arunachal Pradesh) and adjacent southern China (south-eastern Xizang).
rouxi (Oustalet, 1896) - North-eastern India (south-eastern Arunachal Pradesh south to hill states south of R Brahmaputra), west, northern and eastern Myanmar, southern China (Yunnan), north-western Thailand, northern Laos and northern Vietnam (Tonkin).
rogersi Deignan, 1937 - Eastern part of north-western Thailand.
constantiae Ripley, 1953 - North-central and central Laos.
clarki (Oates, 1894) - Eastern Myanmar. Considered by some authors to be a subspecies of Burmese Yuhina (Yuhina humilis).
