Subspecies
Relationships of genus uncertain. Most of recent studies indicate that it should be placed in the New World family Vireonidae.

The following 2 subspecies are recognised:

rufiventer Blyth, 1842 - Central and eastern Nepal east to north-eastern India (Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur), western and north-eastern Myanmar and southern China (western and central Yunnan).
delacouri Mayr, 1941 - Western Tonkin (Fan Si Pan Mts), in northern Vietnam.
