Subspecies
Forms a superspecies with Eurasian Crag-Martin (Ptyonoprogne rupestris) and Rock Martin (Hirundo fuligula) and all three have been considered conspecific, but breeding ranges overlap. Subspecies sintaungensis possibly not clearly distinguishable from nominate, which varies in darkness.
The following 2 subspecies are recognised:
concolor (Sykes, 1832) - Extreme south-eastern Pakistan and India (from Gujurat, eastern Rajasthan and Haryana east to western Bihar, south to Kerala and western Tamil Nadu).
sintaungensis (Baker, ECS, 1933) - Eastern and southern Myanmar, southern China (southern Yunnan), northern and eastern Thailand, northern Laos and northern Vietnam.
