Subspecies
The following 5 subspecies are recognised:

millardi (Baker, ECS, 1921) - Western Himalayas.
torqueola (Valenciennes, 1826) - Nepal east to Tibet and northern Burma.
batemani (Ogilvie-Grant, 1906) - Northern Burma and south-central China (western Yunnan, south-western Sichuan).
griseata Delacour & Jabouille, 1930 - North-western Vietnam.
interstincta Ripley, 1951 - Southern and south-eastern Assam (north-eastern India).
