Habitat
Subtropical and tropical lowland dry grassland, subarctic forest. From sea-level - 700 m, occasionally to 1,000 m.

Range (Guide)

Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Paraguay, Uruguay (B).

South-eastern Bolivia and central Brazil (southern from Mato Grosso, southern Tocantins, Goi�s, and western Minas Gerais), southern throughout Paraguay and Uruguay to north-eastern and central Argentina (south to R��o Negro and north-eastern Chubut).

Estimated population is unknown (2010).

Subspecies
Analyses of mitochondrial DNA indicate closest relationship with Giant Cowbird (Molothrus oryzivorus) and Bronzed Cowbird (Molothrus aeneus).
