Subspecies
The following 2 subspecies are recognised:
fedoa (Linnaeus, 1758) - Central Alberta and south-western Manitoba to south-central Montana and western Minnesota, also south-western James Bay. Winters from California and the Carolinas south to Panama, occasionally occurring south to northern Chile, Colombia and Venezuela.
beringiae Gibson & Kessel, 1989 - Alaska Peninsula. Winters on Pacific coast of USA from southern Washington to central California.
