Habitat
Grassy and forested boggy areas with low scrub or rushes, often in a mosaic of grassy bog, bamboo and lichen-clad dwarf forest and sometimes cushion-plant bogs. From sea-level - 4,200 m.
Argentina (B), Chile (B), Falkland Islands (Malvinas) (NB).
South-central Chile and south-central Argentina south to Tierra del Fuego.
 
Population
Estimated population is 2,500 - 9,999 (2010).
Status NT
Habitat degradation due to conversion to agriculture and grazing is the main threat.
