Habitat
High altitude Andean lakes, with dense submerged aquatic plants. From 3,000 - 5,200 m.

Range (Guide)

Argentina (B), Bolivia (B), Chile (B).

Northern Chile, south-western Bolivia and north-western Argentina.

Population
Estimated population is 10,000 - 19,999 (2010).

Status NT
Pollution of habitat, hunting, egg collecting and predation by Andean Gull (Larus serranus) are the main threats.
