Habitat
Small remnant patches of native scrub in desert river valleys. From sea-level - 750 m, occasionally to 3,000 m.

Range (Guide)

Chile (B), Peru (NB).

Southern Peru (Tacna) and northern Chile (near Arica, irregularly south to Antofagasta).

Population
Estimated population is 1,200 (2010) and decreasing.

Status CR
Habitat destruction is the main threat.

Subspecies
Relationships unclear. Usually placed in monotypic genus Eulidia, but external morphology and behaviour support treatment within Myrtis.
