Habitat
Forested rivers, on islands with sandy shores, beach ridges in coastal savanna, reed-beds or riverine vegetation.

Range (Guide)

Central African Republic (P), Congo [The Democratic Republic of the] (B), Congo [The Democratic Republic of the] (B), Gabon (B) (P).

Western Gabon (Gamba, Animba and near Libreville) and PRCongo (Conkouati Reserve), and DRCongo (upper and middle R Congo, lower R Ubangi).

Estimated population is unknown (2010).

In holes in sandbars which are exposed when river levels are low. In large colonies.
