Habitat
Forested streams and wooded swamps, always above or near water.

Range (Guide)

Angola, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Congo [The Democratic Republic of the], Congo [The Democratic Republic of the], C�te dIvoire, Equatorial Guinea, Gabon, Ghana, Guinea (B), Liberia, Nigeria, Sierra Leone, Uganda.

Liberia to Cameroon, Gabon, Zaire and extreme north-eastern Angola.

Population
Estimated population is 200,000 - 510,000 (2010).

Status LC
Forest destruction, taking of nestlings by fisherman are the main threats.

Nest
A circular platform on top of several lateral tree branches, approximately 30 cm across, situated 1 - 6 m above the ground or overhanging water.

Subspecies
Sometimes placed in genus Lampribis, together with Olive Ibis (Bostrychia olivacea).

No subspecies.
