Subspecies
Subspecies buchanani rather weakly differentiated. Species sometimes treated as monotypic.

The following 2 subspecies are recognised:

dentata (Sundevall, 1850) - Southern Mauritania and Senegambia eastern in Sahel zone and savanna belt (except southern Niger) to southern Sudan, western Ethiopia and northern Eritrea. Also south-western Arabia (southern Yemen).
buchanani E. J. O. Hartert, 1921 - Southern Niger (Zinder province east to L Chad).
