Subspecies
Genus closest to Stizorhina, the two forming a group which, in turn, is most closely related to New World Myadestes.
The following 2 subspecies are recognised:
gabunensis Neumann, 1908 - Southern Cameroon and Gabon east to northern DRCongo and western Uganda.
rufus (Fischer & Reichenow, 1884) - Eastern Kenya and eastern Tanzania, including Zanzibar I.
