Habitat
Subtropical and tropical lowland moist forest, swamp forest.

Range (Guide)

Angola, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Congo [The Democratic Republic of the], Congo [The Democratic Republic of the], Equatorial Guinea, Gabon.

Southern Cameroon and Gabon to north-western Angola and central Zaire.

Population
Estimated population is unknown (2010).

Subspecies
Range complementary to that of Black-throated Coucal (Centropus leucogaster), suggesting that the two may be allospecies. Form neumanni of Black-throated Coucal (Centropus leucogaster) of north-eastern Zaire has been considered more closely related to present species, and may even be a distinct species.

No subspecies.
