Habitat
Clearings in transitional and lowland forest, at low and intermediate altitudes, montane forest. From 1,000 - 2,700 m.

Range (Guide)

Congo [The Democratic Republic of the] (B) (NB).

Eastern Zaire, where collected from Mubandakika, Butokolo, Bionga and Kamituga.

Population
Estimated population is 2,500 - 9,999 (2010) and decreasing.

Status VU
Habitat loss through conversion of forest to agriculture, mining, and hunting are the main threats.

Subspecies
Genus previously merged into Apus. Affinities uncertain. Formerly considered a subspecies of Scarce Swift (Schoutedenapus myoptilus).

No subspecies.

Similar Species
May be impossible to separate in the field from Scarce Swift (Schoutedenapus myoptilus).
