Habitat
Dense undergrowth of gallery forests along rivers and brooks, occasionally entering surrounding savanna areas, thick (not gallery) forest patches in the savanna. From sea-level - 1,250 m.

Range (Guide)

Angola (B) (NB), Congo [The Democratic Republic of the] (B) (NB).

South-western DRCongo and northern Angola.

Population
Estimated population is 10,000 - 19,999 (2010) and decreasing.

Status VU
Habitat destruction and degradation through clearance for agriculture and uncontrolled fires from slash-and-burn cultivation, is the main threat.

Food
Insectivorous. Especially driver ants.

Voice
A repetitive, high-pitched, liquid, see-sawing song: variable. Also a high-pitched whistle.
