Subspecies
No subspecies.
Genus sometimes subsumed in Psarocolius. In general morphology, size and behaviour appears closer to Cacicus, with voice rather like latter's. However, mitochondrial DNA data indicate close relationship with Casqued Oropendola (Cacicus oseryi), the two forming a clade separate from the other oropendolas. A more distant relationship with Red-rumped Cacique (Cacicus haemorrhous) was weakly supported.
