Habitat
Broadleaved evergreen forest, logged forest and secondary growth, heavily degraded forest and overgrown clearings. From sea-level - 500 m, occasionally up to 1,000 m.

Philippines (B).

Luzon (Northern Sierra Madre Mts and Bataan Peninsula), in northern Philippine Is.

Population
Estimated population is unknown (2010) and decreasing.

Status NT
Habitat destruction and degradation through logging, agricultural conversion and mining activities, is the main threat.

Subspecies
Genus usually merged into Stachyris. May form a superspecies with Panay Striped Babbler (Zosterornis latistriatus), Negros Striped Babbler (Zosterornis nigrorum) and Palawan Striped Babbler (Zosterornis hypogrammicus) and has been thought possibly conspecific with Panay Striped Babbler (Zosterornis latistriatus).

No subspecies.
