Population
Estimated population is 50 - 249 (2010) and stable.
Status EN
Predation by introduced Indian Mongoose (Herpestes auropunctatus) and Black Rat (Rattus rattus) are the main threats. Habitat destruction through looging may also become a threat.

Habits
Usually pairs and family groups.
Voice
Repeated short phrases of loud melodic notes, variable and can be similar to Fiji Bush-Warbler (Horornis ruficapilla). Also a distinctive bubbling alarm call.
Similar Species
Similar to Fiji Bush-Warbler (Horornis ruficapilla) but is larger with a longer tail, more contrasting supercilium and throat, but lacks a rufous cap, and has different behaviour.
