Forest loss and fragmentation through timber extraction, the replacement of forest by rubber plantations, slash-and-burn agriculture and the unrestricted cutting of wood for fuel and other uses, is the main threat.

High-pitched song 'tsitsisui-tsisui ... titsu-titsui-titsui'. Call is a 'pitsitsui, pitsiu' or 'pitsi-pitsu'.

Recent phylogenetic study indicates that this species is closely related to subspecies ogilviegranti, disturbans and klossi (but not nominate) of White-tailed Leaf-Warbler (Phylloscopus intensior).
