Subtropical and tropical lowland moist forest. Also, plantations. From sea-level - 200 m.

Ghizo in the Solomon Islands (B).

Population
Estimated population is 250 - 999 (2010) and decreasing.

Status EN
Habitat clearance is the main threat.

Voice
A series of upslurred notes, somewhat similar to that of Collared Kingfisher (Todiramphus chloris). A short, melodic song. A loud 'tcheup' uttered in contact.

Subspecies
No subspecies.

Forms a superspecies with Louisiade White-eye (Zosterops griseotinctus), Rennell White-eye (Zosterops rennellianus), Vella Lavella White-eye (Zosterops vellalavella), Ranongga White-eye (Zosterops splendidus) and Solomons White-eye (Zosterops kulambangrae), possibly with Kolombangara White-eye (Zosterops murphyi) also a member of same group. Close to Ranongga White-eye (Zosterops splendidus) and sometimes considered conspecific, but differs in plumage and morphology. Approaches Vella Lavella White-eye (Zosterops vellalavella) in some characters (colours of mantle and bill).
