Subspecies
No subspecies.
Forms a superspecies with Black-crested Titmouse (Baeolophus atricristatus), Juniper Titmouse (Baeolophus ridgwayi) and Oak Titmouse (Baeolophus inornatus). Was until recently treated as conspecific with Oak Titmouse (Baeolophus inornatus), and the two hybridize in a narrow zone in central Texas, but they generally differ somewhat in ecology. Further study required.
