Recent molecular-genetic analysis indicates that genus may be closest to Oriolia, Falculea and Artamella.
Similar Species
Males are distinguished from Madagascar Cuckooshrike (Ceblepyris cinereus) and females from Tylas Vanga (Tylas eduardi) by the conspicuous deep pale blue bill.
