South-eastern Brazil (extreme south-eastern Minas Gerais, Rio de Janeiro and central and eastern Sío Paulo south to western and central Paraná and north-western Rio Grande do Sul), eastern Paraguay (Canendiyu, Alto Paraná, Caazapá) and extreme north-eastern Argentina (northern Misiones).

Subspecies
Members of genus form a well-defined clade, and appear to be closely related to Hypocnemis. Closely related to Ferruginous Antbird (Drymophila ferruginea), and until recently treated as conspecific.
