Habitat
Understorey and middle storey várzea (seasonally flooded forest), and the tall growth on islands in white-water rivers. Also, edges of older forest.
North-eastern Ecuador and northern Peru (locally along R Napo, R Marańón, R Santiago and R Ucayali) eastern along R Amazon in western Brazil (east to vicinity of mouth of R Negro).
 
Population
Estimated population is unknown (2010).
Status NT
Habitat destruction and degradation through accelerating deforestation in the Amazon basin as land is cleared for cattle ranching and soy production, facilitated by expansion of the road network, is the main threat.
