Habitat
Subtropical and tropical dry forest, seasonally wet/flooded grassland, inland wetlands. From sea-level - 1,200 m.

Range (Guide)

Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Paraguay.

North-western Bolivia (upper R Beni) and south-central Brazil (southern Mato Grosso, extreme southern Bahia south to western Rio Grande do Sul) south to eastern Paraguay and north-eastern Argentina (Chaco, Corrientes, Misiones).

Estimated population is unknown (2010).

Anatomical considerations indicate that closest relatives may be somewhat similar Muscipipra and very different Neoxolmis.
