Habitat
Dry deciduous, wet lower montane, semi-deciduous cloud-forest, humid cloud-forest, evergreen moist forest, heavily degraded forest, scrub and hedges. Mainly at 500-1,800 m, but also to sea-level and occasionally 2,625 m.
Andes and lowlands from south-western Ecuador (Manabí) to north-western Peru (Tumbes, Piura).
 
Population
Estimated population is 2,500 - 9,999 (2010) and decreasing.
Status VU
Habitat destruction and degradation through clearing, overgrazing, hunting, are the main threats.
