Habits
In pairs or small flocks. Never too far from water.
Food
Seeds of shrubs and trees and of some grasses and herbs.
Voice
A loud, musical, rapid, 'cook-ar-ook'. A low, grinding, grating, 'owrrgh-owrrgh-owrrgh', uttered in display, at the bottom of each bowing action.

Nest
A substantial platform of sticks supporting a pad of leaves and spinifex stems, in a rock crevice or on a shaded rock-ledge.
Eggs (Guide)
2; smooth, glossy, cream-white; ellipsoidal; about 26 - 27 x 22 mm. Incubation: about 16 - 18 days; by both sexes.
Young
Fledge in about 21 days.
Subspecies
Forms superspecies with White-quilled Rock-pigeon (Petrophassa albipennis).
No subspecies.
Similar Species
White-quilled Rock-pigeon (Petrophassa albipennis) which has white wing patches and found further to the west.
