Habitat
Wet montane forests including edges, gaps and tall secondary growth. From 700 - 2,000 m.
Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Nicaragua, Panama.
Population
Estimated population is unknown (2020) and decreasing.

Nest
A bulky cup composed of plant fibres and scales of tree ferns saddled on a thin downsloping branch.
Eggs (Guide)
2; white; 16.5 x 11 mm. Incubation: by female.
Subspecies
Subspecies jamesoni often spelt jamersoni, due to a typographical error present in original description.
The following 3 subspecies are recognised:
- henryi Lawrence, 1867 - Costa Rica and western Panama.
- jacula Gould, 1850 - Extreme eastern Panama to northern and central Colombia.
- jamersoni (Bourcier, 1851) - Andes of south-western Colombia and western Ecuador.
