Habitat
Humid forest borders. From 1,200 - 1,800 m.

Range (Guide)
Colombia (B).

Population
Estimated population is 2,500 - 9,999 (2010) and decreasing.

Status EN
Habitat destruction through conversion to marijuana and coca plantations, compounded by government spraying herbicides, logging, burning, afforestation of exotic tree are the main threats.

Voice
A plaintive double note 'twit-twit'.

Subspecies
Sometimes placed in genus Saepiopterus.

No subspecies.

Similar Species
White-vented Plumeleteer (Chalybura buffonii) of lowlands has shorter tail and green (not white) undertail-coverts.
