Subspecies
The following 4 subspecies are recognised:
- brehmii Schlegel, 1873 - Vogelkop, north-western New Guinea.
- intermixta Hartert, 1930 - Weyland and Snow Mts and Mt Goliath, central Irian Jaya.
- harterti Mayr, 1931 - Huon Peninsula, north-eastern New Guinea.
- pallida Meyer, AB, 1886 - Central mountains of Papua New Guinea.
