South-western Madagascar, in area bounded by R Mangoky in north, R Fiherenana in southern and inland hills in east.

Estimated population is 9,500 - 32,700 (2010) and decreasing.
Status VU
Habitat destruction through slash-and-burn cultivation, logging are the main threats.
