Vagrant to Israel.

Subspecies
The following 2 subspecies are recognised:

brunnea (Eyton, 1838) - Ethiopia southwards to Cape Province.
erythrophthalma (Wied, 1832) - Venezuela; eastern Brazil to north-eastern Argentina.
