Subspecies
Sometimes erroneously spelt Perdix dauuricae. Formerly known as Perdix barbata. Proposed subspecies przewalski included within subspecies suschkini.

The following 2 subspecies are recognised:

dauurica (Pallas, 1811) - Kirghizia and western China (Xinjiang) east to Mongolia and eastern Russia, south to Tuva Mts.
suschkini Poliakov, 1915 - Central and north-eastern China (Qinghai east to Heilongjiang).
