Subspecies
Not recognised as a species by BirdLife International. White-rumped Shama (Kittacincla malabarica) and White-crowned Shama (Copsychus stricklandii) (Sibley and Monroe 1990, 1993) have been lumped into Copsychus malabaricus following Collar (2004).
Considered by some authors to be a subspecies of White-rumped Shama (Kittacincla malabarica).
The following 2 subspecies are recognised:
stricklandii Motley & Dillwyn, 1855 - Borneo. Considered by some authors to be a subspecies of White-rumped Shama (Kittacincla malabarica).
barbouri (Bangs & Peters, JL, 1927) - Maratua Is. (north-eastern of Borneo). Considered by some authors to be a subspecies of White-rumped Shama (Kittacincla malabarica).
