Subspecies
All members of genus form superspecies. Crax sclateri is a synonym.
The following 3 subspecies are recognised:
- fasciolata Spix, 1825 - Central and south-western Brazil, Paraguay, northern Argentina.
- pinima Pelzeln, 1870 - North-eastern Brazil. Considered by some authors to be a distinct species, Belem Curassow (Crax pinima).
- grayi Ogilvie-Grant, 1893 - Eastern Bolivia.
