Subspecies
The following 2 subspecies are recognised:
semota (Riley, 1933) - Eastern Ecuador and north-eastern Peru through eastern Colombia and north-western Brazil to southern and eastern Venezuela; possibly also northern Bolivia.
squamata (Cassin, 1853) - The Guianas and Trinidad to central and eastern Brazil.
