Breeds in southern Canada (north-eastern British Columbia and northern Alberta east to Nova Scotia) and north-eastern USA eastern from Minnesota and southern in Appalachians to extreme northern Georgia. Migrates to north-western South America west of Andes, south to central Peru; also irregularly southern Central America.
