Subspecies
The following 2 subspecies are recognised:

irupero (Vieillot, 1823) - Eastern Bolivia, north-eastern and central Argentina (south to Mendoza, San Luis and R��o Negro), Paraguay, southern and south-eastern Brazil (Mato Grosso do Sul, Rio Grande do Sul) and Uruguay.
niveus (von Spix, 1825) - Eastern Brazil (Cear� and Pernambuco south to Bahia and northern Minas Gerais).
